Polaroid greetings - Postcards From Home

From Below and Above.

Like “It was supposed to be an homage…” this collection of painted polaroids is inspired by my environment - in this case specifically Hamburg, my hometown. It was created as part of a group exhibition that was showcased in the online gallery Creating in Crisis.

This in small scale artwork collection is fuelled by wanderlust and the exploration of my immediate environment. With it, I attempted to mimic the sight from an airplane on the earth below. A view without a sense of distance or location. It is inviting the viewer to let them be taken away to a different place, to an unknown location.

For this project I worked exclusively with my polaroid camera. The polaroids were taken with double exposure, meaning that two pictures were laid on top of one another. This created an abstract image: a blend of colours, shapes and patterns. I then painted on top of the polaroids with Posca pens.
