CÔTE D'AZUR CLASHING

Inspired by a trip to the South of France, more specifically the Côte d’Azur, this collection explores the contrast between traditional, colourful fisherboats and modern, elegant, shiny/metallic and reduced yachts. Intrigued by the way those two 'groups' exist in symbiosis at the harbours of South of France, I created a body of work that took the characteristics of each group and the contrast between the two to the extreme. The idea was to translate this physical based starting point into a two-dimensional, optical illusion, '3-Dimensional-looking' pieces.

For this project I worked exclusively on neoprene. Techniques include screen printing, digital printing, digital embroidery and quilting and finishes such as hot melt and vinyl. Inspired by my theme materials such as grommets and eyelets, ropes and safety hooks.
